The Mississippi State University Libraries is a congressionally designated depository for U.S. Government documents. Public access to government documents is guaranteed by public law.
United States Government documents or publications are defined as any print or processed book, paper, periodical, pamphlet, map, microform, or electronic product prepared and published at public expense by the United States Congress or by any of the Executive Departments, independent agencies, or judicial bodies of the U.S. Government. They are not copyrighted and may be reproduced freely.
Government Documents may be located by searching the Online Catalog. Publications are available online, in the circulating collection, and in the Reference Collection. Items housed in the Research, Instruction and Outreach Department may be used in the Mitchell Memorial Library but do not circulate. Items cataloged and available in the general collection may be checked out.
