Due to the rising cost of textbooks, the University of Mississippi and the Hewlett Foundation are providing a $4,000 development stipend to faculty that adopt open educational resources. Last year MSU only had one faculty member who took advantage of this opportunity. Proposals are due by 5pm on October 10.

   Z-DEGREE INITIATIVE

As a part of the MSU Libraries’ Scholarly Communication Initiative, we have an OER committee that has developed some informational workshops that help educate faculty on the benefits of OERs as well as a website that outlines some of the benefits and identifies OER resources. We are also in the midst of planning a panel discussion with faculty that have adopted OERs for their courses. More information on the panel discussion will be available in the near future.

The Scholarly Communication Initiative also encompasses information on Copyright/Fair UseData ManagementOpen Access/Author Rights and the Institutional Repository. MSU Libraries is interested in working with faculty as they navigate these areas of scholarly publishing.
