New and improved DIWS website

April 13, 2022

We in the Digital Initiatives and Web Services team are always trying to think of ways we can keep MSU Libraries faculty and staff up to date on our ongoing projects. To this end, we've updated our departmental website to feature more information about what we're up to!

  • We'll release regular updates on project statuses and changes that vendors are making to web-based apps that we use. (We'll still email you with the updates, but those emails will generally point to these update posts.)

  • We've published a roadmap of our major long-term projects. This will tell you what we're working on this year, and how long we expect it to take. It does not include one-off bugfixing or troubleshooting tickets; those continue regardless of our longer-term projects. If you have questions about a ticket's status, please let us know!

  • We've included a new feature request process. If you think something on our website could work differently or better, or you saw something on another website you'd like to see us pick up, you can submit your idea here. You can also vote and comment on submitted ideas. Ideas with more upvotes are more likely to join our project roadmap. (This is not for acute problems that are stopping work or research - for those, please continue to submit tickets so they can be fixed quickly!)

  • We've added a link to our GitHub repository. GitHub is a way for developers to share their code with others. We plan to begin releasing open-source versions of the apps we build for MSU Libraries, and those will be stored and distributed via our GitHub.

As always, if you have questions about anything we're doing, just ask! Or, if you have something you need us to do, put in a ticket.
