Special Collections Reading Room closure June 23, 2022

June 17, 2022

As of June 23, 2022, the Archives and Special Collections offices and reading room on the 3rd floor of the Mitchell Memorial Library will be closed indefinitely to accommodate the replacement of the air conditioning units in that area.

While the project is ongoing, researchers will be able to meet with Special Collections faculty and staff and access Special Collections materials in the Ulysses S. Grant Presidential Library Reading Room on the 4th floor of Mitchell Memorial Library. All patrons will need to contact the department to make an appointment and request materials two full business days in advance of their proposed visit.

The best way to reach the department during this time will be by email, at sp_coll@library.msstate.edu.

Materials requested from the collections in University Archives, Manuscripts, Rare Books and Mississippiana will be pulled between 8 and 10 AM daily. Requests for materials received after 10 AM will be pulled on the next business day.

Archives and Special Collections will also be limiting donations of new materials during this time. If you have historical materials you would like to donate to Special Collections that need to be considered on an urgent basis, please email sp_coll@library.msstate.edu and include your name, contact information, and a description of the collection.

For more information about the project and the anticipated disruptions to service, please contact Special Collections at sp_coll@library.msstate.edu.
