MSU Libraries Prepares for Phased Rollout of New Resources

Advancements in scholarly communication continue to rapidly transform the information landscape. These innovations in delivery and discoverability of current and authoritative research are lessening higher education's dependence on traditional and costly vendor packages.

Mississippi State University Libraries is excited to announce the phased rollout of two new resources, CloudSource OA and Article Galaxy Scholar. CloudSource OA is a comprehensive research tool that offers access to over 55 million high-quality open access scholarly journal articles, textbooks, eBooks and open educational resources with a single click directly from the catalog.

Dr. Lis Pankl, Dean of MSU Libraries, said CloudSource OA is a relatively new product that is actively shaped by user feedback. The adoption of these resources will free up funds for the creation of transformative deals previously unavailable to MSU. This includes a recently executed deal that gives MSU full access to JSTOR, something that was out of our reach prior to COVID.

"The implementation of CloudSource OA and Article Galaxy Scholar will allow the library to meet individual research needs at a much higher level than before. We are excited to offer these upgraded services to the campus community," Dr. Pankl said.

As we transition to these new services, some of our more costly databases will be replaced with new resources. During this trial period, the Libraries need your feedback. Please reach out directly to Dean Pankl at lis@library.msstate.edu to communicate any unmet needs.

Library users will be able to access CloudSource OA beginning July 1. Article Galaxy Scholar, an innovative document delivery service that will provide access to journals not currently available, will premiere this fall.

"With Article Galaxy Scholar, the library can meet the evolving needs of individual faculty at a level previously unheard of with traditional vendors," Dr. Pankl said.
The MSU Libraries is committed to using our electronic resources budget as efficiently and wisely as possible. We thank you for your patience as we trial what we think will be a game changer for scholars and researchers at MSU.

More information and tutorials on these new products will be available soon on the Libraries' website.
