Four MSU Library faculty are working together to support scholars in all disciplines throughout the research lifecycle, from planning to archiving. While each has their own area of responsibilities for the Libraries, their work comes together under the umbrella of Scholarly Communication Services.

The scholarly communication team includes Megan Bean, Assistant Professor of Practice / Copyright and Information Policy Specialist, Lauren Geiger, Digital Archivist / Assistant Professor, Julie Shedd, Assistant Professor of Practice / Director of Open Scholarship Initiatives, and Dr. Carolina M. Siniscalchi, Assistant Professor / Data Science Coordinator. Together they offer assistance with satisfying grant requirements for open access, creating a data management plan, copyright, fair use and licensing, publishing your own open access journal and much more.

Earlier this week the team made their first joint presentation during the monthly Deans’ meeting. Titled “Support for MSU Scholars Throughout the Research Lifecycle,” the agenda included:

  • The Road to Open Access by Megan Bean
  • Scholars Junction: Your Institutional Repository by Julie Shedd
  • Data Services at MSU Libraries by Carolina Siniscalchi
  • Data Description and Preservation by Lauren Geiger
