Exhibit celebrating June as Pride Month!

June 9, 2021

On behalf of the Exhibits Committee, I wanted to direct your attention to our newest second floor exhibit celebrating June as Pride Month!

The exhibit was curated by the Holmes Cultural Diversity Center and Special Collections using materials from University Archives, Manuscripts, and items from the HCDC. It was assembled by Jessica Perkins Smith with beautiful graphics designed by Jennifer Jones.

The Manuscripts material includes items from the Starkville Pride collection donated by Bailey McDaniel and Emily Turner such as lanyards and a framed proclamation signed by the mayor. There are photos from previous years of Pride parades, and Jennifer McGillan contributed images from the vigil held on the Drill Field after the PULSE shooting (which she has donated to the Archives). There are also photos of current student groups on campus, books, and more.

We hope you will take time to check it out next time you’re on the second floor. Many thanks especially to Jessica, Jennifer M., and Jennifer J. for their hard work on this.

As always, if you have questions, comments, ideas for exhibits, or anything you’d like to see featured please let me know. We value your input! Contact Kate Gregory
